Finding Inspiration

I find inspiration through friends and loved ones, but it is rare that I ever act upon it. I have an example of a friend of mine doing well is someone you all may be familiar with; Jordan ‘Rizzle’ Stephens from Rizzle Kicks. I’ve known him for several years as we used to work together. He was one of the colleagues I used to get on really well with. We had the same fashion, music, comedy and film interests and on top of that, football. So it’s fair to say that we’re both pretty similar in ways.

Fast forward to now, he’s topping charts, selling out shows and hitting over 5 million views on YouTube. If he can do it, I can do it right? I tell you what, everytime I see him appear on the TV, it brings a smile to my face.

I just need to get in the habit of taking relevant action each day to help reach me up to those dizzy heights. It’s not just Rizzle Kicks I know, I can add The Maccabees, Lowkey, Reveal of Poisionous Poets, football star Clinton Morrison, Beardyman etc.

It’s only human to have off days and have dips in will power but I haven’t quite discovered the best way to keep your inspiration levels high, ideas are welcome. I do know that routine, habit and discipline have a part to play. YouTube has some good video clips and I would like to share them with you all;

My Dentyl Complete Care Mouthwash Review

There are times when you use a product for so long you think to yourself it’s time to try a different product just to change things up a bit.
I have been using Listerine Original for an age, it does burn your mouth slightly but it gets the job done. My teeth do look and feel whiter after using Listerine.

Last week I had the urge to try a new mouthwash; Dentyl Active Complete Care. It’s design caught my attention, although it was slightly more expensive. The bottle had this oil/water like interaction inside which made me curious. The bottle had to be shaken vigorously to activate the mouthwash formula, this sounded like a lot of fun. An alcoholic free mouthwash which works in 6 ways? I couldn’t wait to try it.

A few days in and I have to say this mouthwash is bizarre. I use it once in the mornings and I have started to feel residue around my teeth later in the days I have used it. Picture yourself drinking an excessive amount of fizzy soda drinks, sugar dense foods and not brushing your teeth for 24 hours. Having a quick glance in the mirror whenever I could see that my teeth were not as white as they used to be and they didn’t feel too great either. I hadn’t changed anything in my daily routine but my mouthwash (I was using the original Oral-B precision on my electric toothbrush during that time instead of my preferred floss action head) so I now feel that Dentyl mouthwash is a strange product. I’m going to aim to finish the bottle in the hope that my teeth and gums are going through a transitional phase where they are adapting to the new mouthwash... Hmm.

I am disappointed in this product, clearly not suitable for people who are serious about maintaining a good set of teeth; Dentyl will not be seeing my money until I hear of a positive change in their mouthwash. Maybe it’s for the children?

Stic - The Workout

The Workout is a solo album released by Sticman, a member of the Hip-Hop group Dead Prez. The album was released earlier in 2011 and I’m only just discovering it. I want to give Stic and The Workout plenty of praise as his whole approach to the project has been positive. In 2011 we have celebrities who are role models whether they like it or not, to the people that admire them. Celebrities really are powerful figures as their influence on society is strong. They are part of the media entertainment industry after all; TV, internet, film, magazines, the lot.

There is a lyric from Morrissey that I wanted to share which I found particularly difficult to forget and it comes from The Smiths track; ‘I Know It’s Over’

“It’s so easy to laugh,
It’s so easy to hate,
It takes strength to be gentle and kind”

It’s really difficult to spread a positive, powerful message to the world and I commend any individual who makes the effort to do just so.

Stic claims to have produced and album which has no cursing, no ‘N’ word, it is an album solely made to aid one through their personal growth. It was made to inspire, motivate and encourage optimal health and wellness in us and from what I’ve heard so far, it sounds pretty good too.

Stic has a website dedicated to the RBG (Reaching Bigger Goals) movement and I’m excited by it, I will most likely buy a T-Shirt from there or something and possibly the CD itself. I really to do hope that an American ‘Medium’ is small enough for me...

Dead Prez have had a major influence on my life and I feel urged to express my gratitude for opening my eyes and encouraging me to view the world from different perspectives. My health became consciously objectified after I listened to ‘Let’s Get Free’ back in 2000. Playing the album almost daily became a ritual for me and I have a lot to thank for it, amazing.

A Health & Wellness Journey

Scott Sonnon is an awesome awesome guy. Before I tell you why I feel that Scott Sonnon is awesome I would like to tell you about the health challenges I have had to face in my time.

At birth I weighed approximately 7lbs, this is considered as light for a new-born baby, which should mean that if all goes well in life I should grow to become a medium build adult. From my childhood photos it appears that I was pretty lean up until about the age of 8. Looking at my 8th birthday photo, it appears that I had aspirations of becoming a balloon, which I later did. Fizzy drinks, cake, kebabs, KFC, Fish & Chips, McDonalds, you name it, I ate it and loved it and still do to some extent. Consequently I was teased constantly by my own friends and family, which was hurtful. With all that despair, I still had strong belief in my ability to play football very well, even with all this chub.

The mysterious pain in my right knee

In the school playground, many years ago, I went for a ferocious kick on my weaker foot and boom; I completely missed it and heard an unerring pop coming from my right knee. I have been struggling with mobility ever since.

In hindsight these experiences have become my springboard to optimal health & wellness. After years of searching and experimenting with different exercise programs, I have found my love; CST.

CST (Circular Strength Training) is not only about looking good, it’s about mobility and maintaining healthy joints, it’s about harmony from your head to your toe. A year of practising CST I almost have a super healthy knee again and there comes at a time where one becomes fed up with the GP/Doctor’s nonsense. You know something wrong with your body but your doctors are telling you otherwise, highly annoying. Here is where Scott Sonnon’s Intu-Flow comes in. I can assure you this joint mobility program has saved many people across the world from going under the knife for an operation. Physically I’m almost there, the nutrition has to be worked on so I can achieve that ‘Bruce Lee’ low body fat percentage I so desire.

Occupy... This

Several years ago I made a conscious decision that I was not going to tune into a news channel; apart from Sky Sports News and Charlotte Jackson in particular. It’s a pitty I don't know what time she gets on, a bit of roulette with the TV remote.

Anyway here are the last five occasions I tuned into the news on TV (voluntarily);

1. Bin Laden's death

2. The U.K. riots - the longest I've ever watched the news in my whole life.

3. Footage of Gaddafi's crib on Al Jazeera after the rebels invaded the joint; Liverpool FC mug?

4. Picture of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s smug face after the U.S.A. had accused Iran of plotting the assassination of Saudi officials.

This leads me to number 5...

Occupying the financial heart of a city of your choice.

Now, I do not fully understand exactly what's going on and what the outcome will eventually be, but I do love the powerful message it’s delivering to the world.
After finding out a few of my friends had attended the protests by St Paul's Cathedral on Saturday 15th October 2011 and that it was inspired by the movements of Occupy Wall Street. I had to know more. I tuned into Sky News, total shocker, people were ready to camp in tents and stay there for as long as it takes for their actions to be taken seriously. I was told by friends that police were letting people into the protest area but not letting people out; that doesn't sound like the police are protecting and serving the people does it? Portaloos were also located nearby for those who needed it, I'm sure you can now see why many people were reluctant to join this demonstration.

America had Kanye West and Russell Simmons at the demonstration. The U.K. had Billy Bragg. Who is this man? Cool name but not cool drawing power to inspire and motivate the masses.

I may go and investigate the protest in person but the idea of a policeman refusing me an exit makes me want to reconsider.

Is Lionel Messi Overrated?

I think so. Let’s take a look why;

1.       Lionel Messi is genetically modified

If you know a little of the story of Messi you know this little munchkin kid had growth hormones fed to him during his childhood [cheeeat!], which means Messi is an illegal specimen. Messi has been doped for enhancement. Mr Messi without growth hormones would have developed Messi just how nature intended. My guess is an ineffective footballer, just about good enough for an under 12’s 5-a-side football match. Can you imagine a young Cristiano Ronaldo being given growth hormones throughout puberty? How much of an advantage would that have been? Cristiano Ronaldo and Usain Bolt merged together would be near enough the end result.

2.       Lionel Messi has not won major honours on an international level and probably never will

In this current moment in time, do you ever envisage Lionel Messi & Argentina winning a world cup or a Copa America within the next 20 years? I don’t. Mexico is looking more likely to achieve success with the current crop of potential superstars. Carlos Vela, Giovanni Dos Santos and Javier Hernandez (Chicharito)

3.       Lionel Messi is too afraid to leave his comfort zone i.e. move to the Barclays Premier League

Even if it’s on loan to Fulham FC, QPR or Blackburn Rovers, I’ll be satisfied. It must be for a season at least, it doesn’t have to be a permanent move.  My prediction is that he’ll fair as well as Luis Suarez for Liverpool. Okay, maybe season and a half or two so that teams will be prepared for his surprises.
Paul Merson on Sky Sports News Soccer Saturday stated that the second goal Messi scored in the first leg of the 2011 Champions League semi-final tie against Real Madrid would have not been possible against a high quality defence in the Premier League. He quoted Nemanja Vidic for an example and I happen to agree with him funnily enough. If the 2010 World Cup in South Africa wasn’t enough evidence already...

4.       When he loses his yard of pace he will be become Frodo’s friend

When the twilight years a cometh both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are likely to lose their speed, Cristiano will still have his power no doubt which will make him a slightly better squad member in those later years. Messi may very well keep his football brain, but what use is it if you can’t move urgently when prompted and get knocked over because of your size? No pace? (Look at Michael Owen and Raul, only effective in small doses).
I highly doubt Lionel Messi is doing Yoga like Ryan Giggs or Intu-Flow like Scott Sonnon. I still haven’t forgiven him for the Asier Del Horno incident either.
