Is Lionel Messi Overrated?

I think so. Let’s take a look why;

1.       Lionel Messi is genetically modified

If you know a little of the story of Messi you know this little munchkin kid had growth hormones fed to him during his childhood [cheeeat!], which means Messi is an illegal specimen. Messi has been doped for enhancement. Mr Messi without growth hormones would have developed Messi just how nature intended. My guess is an ineffective footballer, just about good enough for an under 12’s 5-a-side football match. Can you imagine a young Cristiano Ronaldo being given growth hormones throughout puberty? How much of an advantage would that have been? Cristiano Ronaldo and Usain Bolt merged together would be near enough the end result.

2.       Lionel Messi has not won major honours on an international level and probably never will

In this current moment in time, do you ever envisage Lionel Messi & Argentina winning a world cup or a Copa America within the next 20 years? I don’t. Mexico is looking more likely to achieve success with the current crop of potential superstars. Carlos Vela, Giovanni Dos Santos and Javier Hernandez (Chicharito)

3.       Lionel Messi is too afraid to leave his comfort zone i.e. move to the Barclays Premier League

Even if it’s on loan to Fulham FC, QPR or Blackburn Rovers, I’ll be satisfied. It must be for a season at least, it doesn’t have to be a permanent move.  My prediction is that he’ll fair as well as Luis Suarez for Liverpool. Okay, maybe season and a half or two so that teams will be prepared for his surprises.
Paul Merson on Sky Sports News Soccer Saturday stated that the second goal Messi scored in the first leg of the 2011 Champions League semi-final tie against Real Madrid would have not been possible against a high quality defence in the Premier League. He quoted Nemanja Vidic for an example and I happen to agree with him funnily enough. If the 2010 World Cup in South Africa wasn’t enough evidence already...

4.       When he loses his yard of pace he will be become Frodo’s friend

When the twilight years a cometh both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are likely to lose their speed, Cristiano will still have his power no doubt which will make him a slightly better squad member in those later years. Messi may very well keep his football brain, but what use is it if you can’t move urgently when prompted and get knocked over because of your size? No pace? (Look at Michael Owen and Raul, only effective in small doses).
I highly doubt Lionel Messi is doing Yoga like Ryan Giggs or Intu-Flow like Scott Sonnon. I still haven’t forgiven him for the Asier Del Horno incident either.

  1. Messi needed growth hormones to develop to an adult otherwise he would not of developed as we all do naturally. Ronaldo doesn't need growth hormones like the rest of us as we all develop and go through puberty naturally as we are not deficient in that area.
